Deze druif komt uit het midden-Loire-gebied. Synoniemen zijn Arbois Blanc , Herbois, Menu, Menu Pineau de Vouvray, Menu Pinot, Orboe, Orbois, Orboue, Petit Pineau, Pinot Verdet en Verdet. In 1968 was er nog bijna 1500 hectare geregistreerd, maar nu dreigt het onder de 200 te zakken. Hij wordt vnl. gebruikt in Cheverny, Vouvray, Valencay en Touraine-wijnen. Mid-rijpend en kan goed tegen de winterse kou.

The medium-ripening vine is easily susceptible to Botrytis and well suited for cool, climatic conditions. It produces rustic, spicy white wines with a moderate acidity and apple aroma.
